Mission Statement

The mission of the Suttons Bay Public Schools Indigenous Education Program is to support the unique cultural and academic needs of Native American and Alaskan students from Pre-K through graduation.

The overall goal of the Indigenous Education Program is to increase the knowledge of cultural identity and awareness within the district, the knowledge of cultural identity and awareness within the community, increase student achievement, and support students academically as they progress toward graduation.

Objectives

The Indigenous Education Program Parent Committee recommends the Title VI program support the following objectives:

  • Increase student academic achievement; implementing culturally-responsive academic support and culturally-responsive mentoring

  • Student support toward graduation and college preparation

  • Cultural enrichment by providing district-wide awareness and increasing cultural identity
